To meet a star.
Those of you who follow Cloo Collection on Facebook have already heard of this but for everyone else: I have to tell you about Roxy.
About a month ago, when I was in the making of our next Made In Gothenburg release, I realized that the sample I had made was too big for my daughter and to small for my son. I called out to our FB-followers to find a fitting model in the size 98/104 cl so that I could check the fitting of the design properly.
I got an email from a proud father:
"Hi, I heard that you were looking for a fitting model in size 98/104. I have what you're looking for!
Our daughter Roxy is 4 years old, cool, good looking and made in Gothenburg. She can't walk on her own since she has a CP-injury but she takes really good pictures, likes to pose and likes well designed clothes."
A few days later, I met Roxy and her mom at our studio to do the fitting. And, although I had seen in the attached photo that this girl was super cute, I could never have imagined the energy and happiness she brought with her when she came.
About two seconds later, I decided that I wanted to take real promotion pictures with Roxy and I contacted her parents again a few days later. And Roxy called me right after:
In the phone: "Hi!"
Me: "Hello, this is Maria. "
(Silence)
Me: "Who is this?"
Phone: "Roxy! I want to take pictures! My mom says that she wants copies."
And there it was decided. And here we have the result. And Roxy's mom is certainly getting copies.

RELEASE #2 - The Turtle Pants!
Yay! Six weeks has passed and today is the release of our second design under the "Made In Gothenburg" concept.
May I present - The Turtle Pants!
These pants are super soft but yet stylish, designed for dancing, playing, jumping kids. The idea came to life when my daughter Ellen refused to wear "hard pants that I can´t ride my bike in".
Everywhere I looked, the only options were leggings or no-shape-sweat pants. So, I designed a pant that's constructed like a pair of jeans but made of soft, organic knit jersey.
The pleating on the knees ads extra movement and a stylish (kind of mc-feeling) detail.
In fact, I love these pants so much that I had to make a pair for myself. (Sorry about bad quality in this pic, but I forgot the camera at home and had to use the computer camera) They are without doubt the softest and most comfortable pants I've ever had and I will probably live in them from now on.

Close to release!
With just a few days left until our first release of "Made in Gothenburg",
we are working harder than ever at the Cloo Collection studio.
Labels are being sewed to place, hangtags are being handmade,
the garments are being carefully wrapped and marked with heart shaped size stickers.
And we are so glad to have our intern Stina with us for six weeks!
Stina studies pattern construction at Yrkeshögskolan in Borås, Sweden.
All of my crazy design ideas she brings to life in multiple sizes.
And today we got the best visit from my dear friend Åsa,
her husband Simon and their heartbreakingly (yes, that´s a word)
cute four weeks old baby Max.
He did a good days work testing our newest tiny
baby design and oh my god how he rocked it.

The New Concept
FINALLY I can show off the new concept for 2013!
This year, we take our sustainability actions one step further and start producing our designs
in Gothenburg, Sweden.
We want to make the design process more fun, creative and impulsive and we want to reduce the production quantity to make the designs is more unique.
The first of March, we will launch our first new design - in limited edition - and it will be sold for only six weeks. Same goes with every new design throughout the year, which means that if you see something you like - you'd better hurry up and grab it before anyone else does.
The pieces will be numbered with production number - like 7/40 pcs - so that you will know just how special your garment is.
We will still be using only organic fabric, certified by GOTS.

Have I told you about Falling Whistles?
I think I might have, but it's definitely worth mentioning again. Falling Whistles is an organization working for peace in Kongo.
The whistle is a symbol for child soldiers, who were kidnapped and forced to battle. The children too young to carry guns was given a whistle and sent to the frontline.
I'm not very fond of wearing jewelry at all, but this necklace is the most worn piece of jewelry that I have. It goes with all outfits - speaks up for it self - and makes a difference in the world. So, visit Falling Whistles website and buy one or two or three. (It's the perfect christmasgift too!) All profit goes to rehabilitate and advocate for those affected by war.

Wood board
Since five minutes after I moved in to this new showroom and found out that there was a small storage filled with old safe room stuff, I've been wanting to drag these things out and use for photography. It's mostly old steel containers from the 40's that probably contain some kind of air filter for the safe room. But also, there was some wooden boards to use as walls in the safe room if war struck and all of the people in the house needed to take shelter for a couple of days. I guess the walls would serve as some kind of toilet walls, so that using the toilets bins wouldn't have to be so.. unprivate.
To get the wooden walls out of the tiny door, I had to (well, first of all I checked with the landlord that it was ok for me to use them) empty the whole storage and rearrange. Good morning workout I can tell you!
Sweaty and dirty (Noone has touched these thinks since the house was build in the 1940's) I finally got them out and they were just as ugly as I had hoped! Perfect for photo background.
After draging out some nasty nails that kept them together, they came in place and - Voila! No more boring white backdrop! (for now)

On the road - Visiting Cloo Collection retailers
It has been an intense couple of days! This week started with a great trip to Stockholm for a visit to our resellers and starting some new collaborations.
Uni is one of our resellers in Stockholm, with two stores (Odengatan and Åsögatan). I deeply love their concept of organic, unisex clothes and toys for kids. They seem to be just as passionate about those values as I am.
And there, among other really cool items hangs the small amount of Cloo Collection pieces they still have left. So of course, it's time to send some more!

The work of a Web Shop
And now, all of the new pictures are in place in the SHOP. Phew! It takes time to replace everything and making things work. I have to do all the changes on both the swedish site and the english, so that's double work. But, now it looks great!

Photoshooting Cloo Collection - one year later
Last year, at the 1st of October, we had the very first photo shoot for Cloo Collection. At that time, our models had just turned one year and now, this weekend, we had another photo shoot. With the same kids and the same collection. Now they're two years old (the kids that is) and I just love the thought of following their growth along with the growth of Cloo.

Crazy Jumper
I figured that the evil hard shadows that I couldn't get rid of came from my own cameras ugly flash (since my camera has no sync connection, the built in flash can be used to trigger the other flashes). But, that problem is solved after a trip to the local photo gear store. A little cubical to put between the flash sender and the camera costed 99 SEK and now only the soft shadows from the studio flashes falls on the wall.
I tried my best to look as cute as my kids while jumping, but I'm sorry to say that's impossible.

Today I got to try the photo equipment on my kids after I picked them up from day care. I think I got the white balance this time, but there's still SO much to learn about this stuff. And kids (my kids at least) think being photographed is fun for.. about.. 30 seconds. So I guess you'll be seeing some more test photos of Moi after this. ;)

Studio Flash
Finally I got the photo studio equipment that I ordered. Last week they sent me broken flashes, and I wasn't that excited.. ;)
But, today I got the replacements and started to figure out how to use these things. I have never even turned on an extern flash before, so there's probably a lot to learn before the pictures turns out well.
After an hour the result looked like this (I have no backdrop yet, so it had to be the wall):
Oh, on the picture you se my big size Bulldog Scarf that I made for myself this morning. I accidentally cut out two of them, so of course I sewed another one to. You want it? I'm thinking 350 SEK and you can email me at info@cloo.se.

Visits and Good Looking Kids
Yesterday, when the heat finally came back, we had a nice visit from Marie who runs the blog whatiwant.se. She and her baby daughter was in town for the annual swedish bookfair and took a walk from the centre of Gothenburg to visit our new showroom.
Marie has blogged about "The Badger Suit" and now got a chance to look and feel the rest of the collection.
Later, my friend Malin came by with her two gorgeous kids - Here is Hjalmar in Cloo from head to toe.

Freezing Degrees at the Cloo Collection Showroom
Finally I'm back in the showroom after a week of other assignments. During this week, the heat in the whole building has shut down and I can tell you it's bloody freezing in here. Hopefully they will be able to locate the problem soon (I feel really sorry for the people living in the house) - the temperature outside is about 7 degrees celcius, and even though some of the warmth from last week has been locked in here, I doubt that a thermometer would show more than 13-14 degrees.
So, today I'm wearing my winter boots and I'm wrapped in my big winter scarf in front of the computer.
But now to the fun part - If you'd like to come visit our new showroom this week we will be open from 9.00-16.30 all week. And you'll be given a 20% visiting discount to all of our cosy autumn pieces in the shop.
